As every semester Erasmus students had an opportunity to join the magical trip to Lapland. This semester the trip took place from 9th to 14th of March and gathered a lot of participants, who wanted to explore this wonderful place with us.
The first thing that amazed our students When we arrived in Korvala was the atmosphere and the view. Snow was so pure, so white and there was a looooot of it everywhere; the little houses that students were living in were cute and cozy; The forest behind the frozen lake was so beautiful and mysterious. The place looked like a little winter wonderland and students were really looking forward to spend their time there.
But the view was just the first thing that got students excited, following by a lot of exclusive activities during the trip. Experiencing a Reindeer sleigh ride, driving a cool snowmobile, enjoying a nice Husky ride, going hiking, skiing, sliding or even ice fishing in Lapland is a thing You will never forget!
After days full of various activities Erasmus students had great evenings waiting for them as well. Heating up in a real Finnish sauna and then running straight to a freezing cold lake sounds crazy, but it was really worth a try. And having a cozy gathering around a big bonfire in a forest, roasting marshmallows, sausages, vegetables or even fruits with hot beverages in your hands is a great way to get close to people, hear their stories and have some amazing memories together.
Of course the trip couldn’t be called successful & “magical” if meeting Santa Claus wouldn’t be a part of it. So just before leaving Lapland students visited a small Santa Claus village, where they met the Santa (he is real! And we have a picture to prove it!) and could write a letter or just send a nice postcard to a friend or family from the special Santa Claus Post Office.
After a short stop in Rovaniemi, visiting a great “Arktikum” museum or just exploring the city, students had a long trip back home. But after all those experiences and memories made in Lapland, who could complain.
Thank you participants for a great company and of course Scanbalt Experience for this opportunity!
‘Kippis’ to another wonderful trip!
