On the 5th of October morning 51 happy Erasmus students and their mentors from Mykolas Romeris University made a short visit to Kaunas city and its suburbs. First point of the trip was 9th fortress. Firstly students saw the part of jail, its conditions, how and where punishments were made and found out why it was a prison. Also our students had an opportunity to see Ninth's Forth houses, a museum and memorial devoted to the victims of wartime mass executions about which students were also told. Before fortress has been made to jail, during World War I, the complex was the largest defensive structure in the entire state, so later participants were walking through thin and short defensive wall and saw how the defence was made.

When sun went up and afternoon came all people moved to Kaunas city’s old-town part where they saw Kaunas castle and had some free time to walk around. At the same time some representatives of ESN MRU Vilnius and ESN KTU had a small meeting.

After a refreshing break students went to Rumšiskės, the biggest open-air ethnographic museum in Lithuania. There they had the most interactive part of the day when they made their own handmade necklaces from amber and rings from brass. Also there was a small tour to a traditional house and city square of Žemaitija region in IX-XX century.

Most of our students were quite exhausted because of all those activities so on the way home half of them were sleeping, but at the end everybody was happy about the trip, activities they made, expositions they saw, souvenirs they created and more Lithuanian culture revealed.
